Mini Appliance, Maximum Convenience

If you live in a smaller space, it can be discouraging to walk through your average appliance store because hardly anything there seems made for you. “Bigger is Better” is the mantra most every retailer uses and the thought behind this is simple: a large appliance can look very powerful and dominate its surroundings, making it tough for consumers to pass by without taking a look. Also, in most every case, the larger the appliance, the larger the price, and the larger the profit.

However, a good percentage of us out here don’t have the money or the space for a large freezer. Or maybe we do already have a good-sized unit and want a second, smaller one for the garage or basement. Fortunately, a small upright freezer for home can take care of any food storage needs you have, while also fitting both your budget and home layout.

This also applies to refrigerators. Let’s say you would like a unit for your apartment or a fridge for craft beer. Small refrigerators are perfect for these needs and there are a number of different colours and designs to choose from. Separating your beer and other alcohol from the large fridge in the kitchen will also help keep it away from those not old enough to drink.

Another great thing about this size is that the unit is portable. Tired of having the fridge in the basement and would prefer it in the garage? You won’t need four people to help you move it there. These are also perfect for workplaces, cottages, and other places where there is really no need for a full-sized refrigerator.

Finally, a mini fridge won’t set you back nearly as much. They also use less electricity and many also offer other energy saving features as well. Don’t let the small size fool you: a well-maintained and cleaned mini fridge can provide many years of usage.

My Traveling Essentials

Hey everyone!  I’m back with another post today with some useful information on my most prized traveling essentials.

Now as most of you probably know, I’m a backpacker which means that I can’t take EVERYTHING with me when I’m traveling.  If I did, I’d probably walk 10 steps then drop all of my stuff because it would be way too much for me to carry.  Good news is, I’ve got a couple of things that are essential for a great travel – and it’s just a few things!  Now I’m not going to go through the typical things you would bring like your toothbrush and stuff like that.  Instead, I’m going to let you in on some of my secrets to saving room while traveling!

First on the list is shampoo.  Now, I know that shampoo can be heavy and you probably need more than just that mini travel sized edition when you’re going on a month-long trip.  Instead, take a solid shampoo bar!  It’s basically shampoo but in solid form.  It looks like soap and you rub it on your head and it immediately lathers up real nice.  You can also use this as a body soap!  Might as well kill two birds with one stone right?

Second on the list is a quick-dry travel towel – also known as a pillow, beach towel, blanket, cover-up, etc.  You get the gist.  I brought a quick-dry towel and it folded up so compactly that it fit nicely into the palm of one of my hands.  I used it as a cover-up at the beach, then as a beach towel, a pillow in the hostels, and a blanket on the plane.  It was super soft, fuzzy, and also kept me warm.

idThird most important thing on my list was my alert medical bracelet.  Obviously this is extremely important to pack because since I’m a diabetic, I often worry about times when I’m not able to speak a certain language and I need help.  Luckily there are medical bracelets that are recognized internationally so I never have to worry about being sick and not getting help.  I even wear it out as jewelry to spice up an outfit!  Honestly, this should probably be at the top of the list.

So these are my three travel essentials to stay compactly packed, safe, and comfortable!  Shampoo keeps me clean, towel keeps me warm, and medical id bracelets for diabetes keeps me alive!

Just A Traveling Australian

bac‘Ello there mate! I’m Marian, just an Australian traveling the world looking for beautiful, cool new places and things.  So far I’ve been traveling North America, stopping in at Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and New York City.  Next on my list are more American cities including Providence, New Orleans, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Austin.  I plan to visit the west coast after that.  Super looking forward to being in L.A. and Las Vegas – heard those places are pretty cool.

So far traveling in Canada, there’s been some really awesome things I’ve tried.  POUTINE – wow, this is amazing.  You can basically put anything on it and it tastes amazing.  It’s basically french fries with cheese and gravy.  Yum.  Also, they have a drink called “Caesar” and it’s tomato juice with hot sauce and vodka.  Man these also taste great.  They can be bacon infused and who doesn’t like bacon?  I’ll post more on what I see and hear and try so stay tuned!!
